teddy bears

teddy bears

you lay there in the corner
threadbare, grizzled and torn
one of your eyes is missing
and you look so utterly forlorn

I remember the times you comforted me
just to end up bruised and tattered
but I still remember you my friend
and your comfort when it mattered

if the world was ruled by teddy bears
people would be full of glee
they'd laugh and cry and hug each other
and be happy as can be

there'd be picnic fun and joys galore
cucumber sandwiches and sticky puds
the only problem that I can see

is that bears shit in the woods
