love and respect

love and respect

a foggy morning
driving on through.
the road stretching out
into the misty horizons
of unseen possibilities.

on either side
life hovers into view.
distorted, twisted shapes
morphing into our senses
snapping at 1/1000 second.

and then we arrive
dispersing tendrils of miasma.
shafts of humanity breaking through.
hands of friendship
materialise from their manger.

we hazard at the source
with our beliefs pinned down
justified with tradition and common sense.
and we realise, this is how
it should be
it could be

it’s hard to hate when you
stop and gaze
begin to see
each is a little like
you and me.

love and respect
for now
and all ways
wherever, whenever, whoever
