nameless universe
the inevitability of our life span
shines like a sooth saying beacon
lit for all to see from miles around
and yet our minds only see
a two dimensional haze
flickering in some distant world
outside of our universe and
overlooked by our averted gaze
at some point though the piercing light reveals
its tender warmth as it rises on the horizon
a backdrop to the comings and goings of life
ever present
but always
over there
at night we may dream of times gone by
revel in memories of loved ones
who came
touched our lives
and now are gone
as one day we will be
making the inevitable journey
to that fiery beacon which marks our passage
to some distant world
in a nameless universe
