here again

here again,
the wrong end of the day
the world suddenly slides
into an over-night bag
soundproofed against
the perils of darkness
seeking the soothing
rejuvenation of sleep
and the faint edge
of night life
glimmers
creeping in
and over
and up
seizing and warping the very bones
of comforts laid in store
from
attachments
and
dalliances
premature hopes
and
untimely liaisons
smashing dreams into a thousand pieces
of
will she
won’t she
can I
can’t I
jigsawing the realities
into a socially acceptable peace
